HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Our History

old

Central Florida Underground, Inc. was incorporated in the state of Florida in 1967 by Mr. D.A. Foster, founder of NUCA, as a subsidiary company of Potomac Industry – D.A. Foster Trenching, Inc. of Fairfax, Virginia. Originally the facility was located in Winter Park, Florida, on Clay Street. As Central Florida Underground, Inc. evolved, work for the local municipalities was bid, and also to Southern Bell. In 1986 the company relocated its facility to the current location in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

IT'S NUMBER ONE

Safety

Safety is of key importance within our company and is not taken for granted. CFU is a drug free work-place as a prerequisite for employment. CFU is also an equal employment opportunity employer. A safety program is maintained which includes a weekly safety meeting at our home facility on each Monday morning. These meetings are mandatory for all employees. Tool Box talks are distributed to each Foreman to utilize each morning at their job sites emphasizing their project safety codes. Incentive drawings are held once a month depending upon injury status.

All CFU employees have received First Aid and CPR training and have been certified. Our welders are American Welding Society (AWS) Certified and our crane operators receive certification for the equipment they operate. At the safety meeting it is emphasized that all equipment should be inspected prior to use each day. Our Safety Director, Bryan Ward, has a Certificate of Completion for successfully completing the OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Training for the Construction Industry.

All employees have received training for CSX Roadway Worker Protection.
